  • Historic structure :: progressive people

In 1885, the new Grace Episcopal Church sanctuary was constructed of hand-hewn timbers, by the skill of artisans and the grace of God. 100 years later, this carpenter gothic building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and its congregation called the Rev. Sallie Shippen as the first woman to serve as rector in the Diocese of Western Oregon.

    God in Creation

In a thin place we feel the veil between heaven and earth might be permeable. Here, where the earth is so beautiful, the waters so powerful, and the sky is always changing, you too may feel the presence of God in the wildness of this place.

  • A thousand ages in thy sight...

In 2022, an old historical marker at the site of Fort George was replaced. The new sign tells the story of our place with language that centers indigenous peoples who preceded us by eons, and are still shaping our community. We confess that the history of our settler forebears has been brief but often harmful to those who were here before. We bewail our manifold sins and wickedness…we do earnestly repent and are heartily sorry, so we pray and act to make amends, heal old wounds, and be better neighbors.
